# A Brief History
Chao-Zhou Elementary School was established in 1899 — during the Japanese-Occupied Period. CZES is a school with a history of more than one hundred years after experiencing changes both in her system and name:
1. 1899.04.10 ─ Chao-Zhou Chung Common School was established.
2. 1906.04.08 ─ Chao-Zhou Common School
3. 1906.10.19 ─ Jia-Zuo Branch School was established.
4. 1911.04.01 ─ A-Kau Normal Advanced-Elementary School Chao-Zhou Branch was established within Chao-Zhou Common School
5. 1917.04.15 ─ Chao-Zhou Branch School was separated from Chao-Zhou Common School. (also called Japanese Elementary School)
6. 1918.04.01─Jia-Zuo Branch School was established separated from Chao-Zhou Common School.
7. 1920.04.15─Kan-Ting Branch School was established.
8. 1921.04.01─Kan-Ting Branch School was separated from Chao-Zhou Common School
9. 1921.04.24─Chao-Zhou Common Schools with an Agriculture Curriculum were turned into two-year schools with a simplified Agriculture Curriculum.
10. 1922.04.01─Chao-Zhou Simplified Agriculture School was abolished.
11. 1922.04.01─Chao-Zhou Common School established Advanced Course.
12. 1929.07.06─ Parents Association (Parent-teacher conference) was established.
13. 1931.04.01─ Si-Lin Branch School was established.
14. 1936.04.01─Si-Lin Branch School was separated from Chao-Zhou Common School.
15. 1941.04.01─Chao-Zhou West National School.
16. 1945.10.20 ─Chao-Zhou National School.
17. 1948.09.01─ Chao-Nan Branch School was established.
18. 1949.09.01─Chao-Zhou Branch School was officially named Kuang-Hua National School.
19. 1951.09.01─ Chao-Nan Branch School was separated from Chao-Zhou National School.
20. 1968.08.01─Chao-Zhou Elementary School.
21. 1968.08.01─Kuang-Chun Branch School was established.
22. 1969.08.01─Kuang-ChunBranch School was separated from Chao-Zhou Elementary School.
23. 1977.09.01─ Class for Mentally Challenged Children was established.
24. 1996.09.01─Evening School was established within Chao-Zhou Elementary School.
25. 1997.09.01─ Resource Classroom was established within Chao-Zhou Elementary School.
26. 1998.08.01─ Gifted and Talented Art Class was established within Chao-Zhou Elementary School.
27. 1999.08.01─Chao-Ho Elementary School was separated from Chao-Zhou Elementary School.with the districts ofPeng-Lai Village and Wu-Gue Village.

# Mission
(1)Reading and Library Instruction
We have been devoted to the promotion of Reading and Library Instruction. Besides, we are honored to be one of the top 100 seeded schoolsof Education Parenting Family Lifestyle’s 10-minute Morning Reading Activity Program in 2010. Reading Education is the main part in our Alternative Learning Periods. Through reading activities and relative events such as morning reading sessions, quiz games, book recommendations, and A Date with an Author, we hope to widen our students’ global view. In the digital era, we enroll in the Ministry of Education’sNational Online Reading Program so that our teachers may enhance students’ reading skills via online resources.
(2)School-based International Education Program
In view of the importance of international education, we apply for the Ministry of Education’s SIEP, School-based International Education Program. According to the program, we organize international education teacher training seminars and build up the teaching environment of international education promotion. Our vision is to provide our next generation with 21st century global competencies. As to our goals, we hope to enhance our students’ national identity, global awareness, global competitiveness, and global responsibility.
(3)Gifted and Talented Art class
Students in our Gifted and Talented Art classes are provided with a range of learning activities. We organize art related seminarsand art exhibitions.In addition, we invite experts in art to come to instruct our students. Our goals are to lead them to experience various visual art styles and familiarize them with different forms of creation,widen their horizon, and enhancetheir awareness of different forms of art. We hope that through the inspiration at school, our students can explore the direction of their future development. By doing so, we may cultivate the art talented students.
(4)Multiple Intelligence Clubs
Theory of Multiple Intelligenceprovides a structure for organizing projects and activities and helps in assessing that a well-rounded coverage is obtained after every term. A varietyof clubs taking place on Friday during alternative periods and Wednesday afternoons provide an umbrella under which activities for each of the eight multiple intelligences are organized. We offer our students a healthy learning environment and creative methods of learning; therefore, they can be responsible and perseverant. We hope to create an atmosphere that every student can be successful so that they will enjoy attending school and find fun in learning. Thus, they can gain knowledge and better their skills in other academic fields.
(5)Special Education class
Our special education classes consist of one resources class, two special education classes and one preschool itinerant resource class. The resource classes assist physically or mentally challenged students from regular classes. They enable those students to have better learning and adaption to daily life; the special education classesinstructmore challenged children to possess basic life skills and perform the required skills independently. In the preschool itinerant resource program, we offer teacher’s resources to the preschool teachers within Chao-Zhoutownship and in the nearby towns and villages. We hope those physically challenged children receive suitable education. Through all the special teachers’ collective efforts, we have the most friendly learning environment for physically and mentally challenged children.
(6)English Education
We put emphasis on our English education. Our purpose is to engage our students to become active English learners and create a natural and fun English learning environment for them. Therefore, we choose suitabletextbooks, create an English learning environment through themed decorations, establish English POP song club and English school play club, and include English listening and speaking tests in students’ achievement evaluation. Besides, we hold a series of English related events: story-telling contests, RT contests, seasonal and festival celebrations, and English tours to Nan-Jung English village.
